Planning a trip to Vietnam
I’m in the process of planning a trip to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand for this coming February – yes, very last minute for me – and stumbled across the Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in Southeastern Vietnam.
I’m very excited to try out this property – especially because it has so many of the qualities that I look for in a luxury resort:
- It’s isolated – from Cam Ranh Airport, which is about an hour flight from Saigon, you are shuttled about an hour’s drive to Nha Trang and then board a private boat for the 20 minute journey to the hotel. The harder to get to, the better it is.
- It’s small-ish – with 58 private villas, the resort falls into the 50-75 room sweet spot that for me is the ideal size. 58 rooms means that the property will not be overrun with big groups, and at the same time, means that staff can offer more personal attention.
- It fits with the local landscape – rooms and common areas are not garish. There is a wonderful simplicity to them that almost guarantees for relaxation.
The rooms themselves feature their own plunge pools. Many have direct water access via private decks. I’m looking forward to trying out the spa, checking out the cooking classes offered, and eating lots of good food at the surprisingly plentiful dining options!
If you have stayed at a Six Senses property – there are a number throughout Southeast Asia – please write in with your experiences.
